Marine Structural Project Engineer

Matrix New World is currently seeking a Marine Structural Project Engineer for the New York/New Jersey metro area. Matrix is a growing full-service environmental services and engineering firm offering unmatched expertise in delivering some of the nation's most exciting and complex infrastructure, resiliency, and sustainability projects, including such projects as FiDi Coastal Resiliency, Battery Park City Authority Resiliency, and Bush Terminal Pier 6 Redevelopment.

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the inspection, design, and/or analysis of marine and coastal structures. You will perform engineering calculations, prepare contract drawings, specifications, and permitting applications, and support construction through direct coordination with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in marine, coastal, and waterfront structural/geotechnical engineering projects. This will include inspection, design, rehabilitation, permitting, and/or construction oversight for bulkheads, piers, marine terminals, fendering and mooring systems, ferry landings, living shorelines, stone revetments, and other port-related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide project technical leadership in preparation of engineering deliverables including contract drawings, specifications, cost estimates, permit application, inspection reports, and calculation packages.
  • Lead structural, coastal, and geotechnical engineering design of concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures using applicable codes and standards.
  • Lead above water inspection of marine structures. (ADCI certification as commercial diver and previous underwater inspection experience a significant benefit to candidate consideration).
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and company staff, including providing technical support/oversight to team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental or coastal engineering
  • Advanced working knowledge of current industry software, such as SAP2000, RISA 3-D, Revit, AutoCAD, LPile, Optimoor, and Mathcad.
  • 4 years of directly applicable marine and coastal design and inspection experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE License
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Base Annual Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000
