Matrix New World is currently seeking a Structural Engineering Practice Leader. This is a strategic position for a seller-doer for projects throughout the country, with a focus on our existing business in the NJ and NY Metro-Region, Gulf Coast and other emerging markets where flood resiliency, port development, infrastructure upgrades, entertainment industry, offshore wind and shore protection are market drivers.

The successful candidate will report to top Matrix leadership and will develop, oversee and manage complex structural and marine engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess experience in infrastructure and marine projects. Matrix maintains a diverse portfolio of structural projects including waterfront structures, bulkheads, marinas, piers, amusement rides, site/civil structures, retaining walls, support of excavation, treatment plants, buildings, and more. Experience in any and all of these areas is a plus as well as experience in design utilizing concrete, steel, masonry, timber, shallow and deep foundations, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage project design and delivery for multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Manage technical design and staff for a wide variety of public and private projects and types of structures (infrastructure, waterfront, etc.).
  • Provide overall project management of select projects as well as support of other design teams (geotechnical, civil, etc.) as warranted.
  • Serve as a technical expert for internal and external clients.
  • Serve as Resident Engineer for internal and external projects.
  • Prepare business proposals.
  • Participate in marketing and business development initiatives.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in marine/waterfront engineering, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in ports and coastal offshore resiliency projects highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success developing business
  • Licensed professional engineer in one or more states
